What can cause a convertible top to stop working?
The convertible top section works through the causes in order: a failed hydraulic pump motor, a failed raise or lower relay, an open or high-resistance circuit between the relays and the pump, and mechanical misalignment where the dowel pins no longer seat in the receiver cups. It gives the circuit numbers to test — for example circuits 10-AG15 and 8-AG15 at the raise and lower relays C4063 and C4064 — so you can separate an electrical fault from a hydraulic or mechanical one before removing anything.

How do you test a convertible top motor?
By resistance and voltage checks at the relay connectors rather than by guesswork. The manual has you disconnect the raise relay C4063 and the lower relay C4064, measure across the feed circuits, and apply a pass criterion of less than 5 ohms; it then has you measure voltage at C4064 on circuit 30-AG24 with the ignition on. Each check ends in a yes/no branch that either sends you to the next test or tells you to repair the circuit.
